Last month, Xiaomi had announced its latest flagship globally, the Mi5 and yesterday, the phone officially hit the Indian shores. As of now, Xiaomi has only launched the 3GB+32GB variant that costs Rs 24,999 and will go on sale on April 6.
Specifications wise, you get a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display and a beast core housing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820. However, there is no microSD card slot.
On the camera front, the Mi5 flaunts a 16-megapixel rear camera supporting 4K video recording, four-axis OIS technology, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash, and a 4-megapixel selfie snapper.
Other features include a fingerprint scanner which also serves as the home button, a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC. It comes loaded with the MIUI 7, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
While to some, the technical specifications might not seem too jaw-dropping at this price point, the one thing that really makes the Mi5 a “bang for buck” is the body design. The smartphone offers an amalgamation of glass and metal with a curved edged back, all packed in 129 grams. One can get the Mi5 in pure white, deep black and opulent gold.
So in totality, Xiaomi has tried to offer the Mi5 with an experience which seems to be quite “hatke” from its previous launches and it certainly seems to be a smartphone to look out for.
