Let’s admit it, we love WhatsApp. Our life would be incomplete without it, we’d be lost without those constant group chat notifications and WhatsApp calls. As much as we use it to communicate, not everyone knows about a few tricks WhatsApp has under its sleeve.
Here are Gadgetwala’s top 5 WhatsApp tricks-
- TEXT FORMATTING-
WhatsApp has recently introduced the much anticipated ability to customize text. You have to add a symbol on both sides of a word to customize it.
- To bold something, add an asterisk to either side of the word: *gadgetwala*
- To italicise something, add an underscore to either side of the word: _chummeshwari_
strikethroughsomething, add a tilde to either side of the word: ~smartwatches~
- You can also combine formatting options just by adding the relevant symbols to either side of the word or phrase: _*Chakrasan*_
- ADD CONVERSATION SHORTCUTS-
If there are certain people you talk to very often on WhatsApp (you know what we’re talking about), you can make a shortcut for their chat directly on the home screen on your phone. Tap and hold the conversation you want easy access to and select “Add Conversation Shortcut”. Unfortunately, this feature can be enjoyed only by Android users.
- BOOKMARK MESSAGES-
Sometimes you want to save that one message or picture or video which is so important, that you don’t want to lose it in the huge scrolling fest that takes place on WhatsApp. You can long press on the message or image and it will show you an option to “star” the message or image. You can find your starred messages in the Settings.
- — USE WHATSAPP DESKTOP-
This is the latest new feature Whatsapp has introduced for convenience of its users. Whatsapp now has a desktop app, for both Windows and Mac. One can send photos, videos, documents just like one would on the mobile app. It also allows you to zoom in and out of the screen. You can download the desktop app here.
- CHECK WHEN A MESSAGE WAS READ-
All of us know how annoying it is when people just don’t reply to our messages on WhatsApp even after they’ve read them. Now, you can not only check when a message was delivered, but also when the receiver has read the message. No more “Oh, I didn’t read the message” excuses anymore!
